Spanish Boys School Smock: Actual Garments

Figure 1.--This Catlanian smock was worn by boys in a Barcelona school in 2001. Here we see the front and back.

This blue boy's school smock was from a Catalonian school in Barcelona. It is a collarless back buttoning smock in a small blue and white check. There are white buttons at the back and sleeve cuff. There is also on pocket at the right front. The smock has a high not waist belt. The girls at the school had similar smocks, only in pink and with a Peter Pan collar. The convention of a different color for boys nd girls is common, but not adopted at every school. A Spanish HBC reader tells us, "Las batas que han sido enviadas son actualmente vestidos por mis hijos en una escuela privada elitista de Barcelona." This means, "The smock photographs that I sent were actual the clothes worn by my two children in the pribate school they were enrolled in at Barcelona."
