Figure 1.--Here we see two brothers with identical bangs cuts, although they look a bit different. They were from Morrison, Illinois. The portrait is not dated, but we would guess was taken about 1910. This is in part the grey frame with flaps. A popular style for studio portraits in the early 20th century. A reader asks, "What color are the long stockings here? They look a little to light for black, but we can see so little of them." We have include the framem here as it is helpful in dating the image.

Unidentified American Brothers (About 1910)

Here we see two brothers with identical bangs cuts, although they look a bit different. They were from Morrison, Illinois. The studio was C. Barnum. The portrait is not dated, but we would guess was taken about 1910. This is in part the grey frame with flaps. A popular style for studio portraits in the early 20th century. The boys wear identical knee pants play suits. Note the large collars and rugby-like front buttoning. There were long sleeves and heavy material looking rather like flannel. We are not sure about the color. The boys as would be expected with a winter outfit wear long stockings. A reader asks, "What color are the long stockings here? They look a little to light for black, but we can see so little of them." HBC has posted the full portrait here for a better look.
