Unknown HJ Boy's Album: Experiences--Camping

Figure 1.-- The camping photographs in the album seem to be more small camp sites set up by this unit alone. They seem to be mostly beach camp sites, presumably on Germny's Baltic Coast. The boys looked to have camped somewhere along Germany's Baltic coast. The caption read, "Die schönste Beschäftigung." Yhat means, "The most beautiful activity." We think the location is probably Travemünde.

We note some camping activities. We most associate the Hitler Youth with large summer camps. e do not see any large camps. The HJ had some excellent camping facilities and sites because they took over the assetts and faclties of other German youth movements. Rather the camping photographs in the album seem to be more small camp sites set up by this unit alone. They seem to be mostly beach camp sites, presumably on Germny's Baltic Coast. The boys looked to have camped somewhere along Germany's Baltic coast. We also see the boys swimming, presumably from these beach camp sites. You might think that adults would be alone for these camping expeditions, but again se see no evidence of it. They have some rather modern looking tents. And at the end of the day is a rip-roring bonfire, making them look rather like Boy Scouts.
