Boys in the uniforms of the groups discussed here have been used in commercial advertising. This has been somewhat limited. The Young Pioneers coming from Communist countries were not used in advertising. Scout policies and trademark rules have limited the use of Scout uniforms, although there has been some usage. Since the 70s we no longer see Scouts in adverising. I do not know of Hitler Youth images used for advertising, although there may have been some. We also note the organizations sponsrng ad vertisements to promote their program. This is a new section of HBU that we have just begun.

Scout policies and trademark rules have limited the use of Scout uniforms, although there has been some usage. Here there are major differences between regulations in the many different countries where Scouts function. The best known American ads with Scouts were Coca Cola ads in the 1950s and 60s. Here we see Mobil ad with Cubs (figure 1).

Advertisers because of the various youth group regulations and trade mark regulations will often create a uniform made to look like a youth group uniform, usually a Cub or Scout uniform. This is a common convention when the advertisers desire to create the impresson of a youth group in their promotion.
