United Arab Emrirates Scout Uniforms: Levels

Figure 1.--UAE Cubs in 2000 wear similar shirts to the Scouts, but blue short pants.

UAE Scouts and Cubs wear destinctive uniforms. We note this convention in the 1950s-60s and it continues with the modern uniforms. Cubs abd Scouts from the same unit, however, will wear identical kerchiefs. The modern uniform is different than that worn in the 1960s. We are not precisely sure when the change was made. One change is that headwear is now much less common which seems strange in a country where the sun is so strong. UAE Scouts in the 1990s wore uniforms that look much like English Scouts, despite the heat complete with grey or teal long pants, similar to the pants and skirts worn by British Scouts and Guides. Caps do not appear to be very popular, a least based on a few available images. We are not sure what the official uniform regulations are. The boys do wear proper uniforms, complete with kerchiefs. Cubs like the Scouts do not wear caps and they wear very similar shirts. The major difference is that the Cubs wear very long blue short pants with white ankle socks.
