United Arab Emrirates Scout Uniforms

Figure 1.--This is an unidentified UAE Scout probavly photographed in the late 1950s or early 60s. He wears what looks like a light khaki uniform. Note the varied headwear the Scouts are wearing. The Cubs wear a sandard peaked cap, although wecare not sure about the color.

UAE Scouts and Cubs wear destinctive uniforms. Cubs abd Scouts from the same unit, however, will wear identical kerchiefs. The modern uniform is different than that worn in the 1960s. We are not precisely sure when the change was made. One change is that headwear is now much less common which seems strange in a country where the sun is so strong. UAE Scouts in the 1990s wore uniforms that look much like English Scouts, despite the heat complete with teal long pants. Caps do not appear to be very popular, but the boys do wear proper uniforms, complete with kerchiefs. Cubs like the Scouts do not wear caps and they wear very similar shirts. The major difference is that the Cubs wear very long blue short pants with white ankle socks.

Caps do not appear to be very popular, a least based on a few available images. We are not sure what the official uniform regulations are. The boys do wear proper uniforms, complete with kerchiefs. Cubs like the Scouts do not wear caps and they wear very similar shirts. The major difference is that the Cubs wear very long blue short pants with white ankle socks.

Garments

We note UAE Scouts wearing a variety of headwear in the 1950s-60s. The image here shows Scouts wearing a military-style field cap, ba beret, and Aran head gear. We zare unsure about the actual official regulations. Cubs wore a British-style peaked cap. We are not sure about the color it may have been blue. The 1950s-60s uniform had a shirt that looked to be kight-khaki. The modern uniform seems to have a similar light khaki shirt, but worn with light grey or teal panjts similar to British Scouts. The few images we have show Scouts wearing long trousers. The Cubs seem to wearr a similar light khaki shirtvwith short pants. We are not sure about the color in the 1950s-60s, but more recent images show dark blue shorts.
